The Samsung LEDs in GOQ LED’s programme literally outshine the competition, thanks to their relatively high light output, which is up to two times greater than that of comparable LEDs. Samsung, the manufacturer of the LEDs, refers to Mid Power LEDs, to indicate that in terms of brightness, the LEDs are somewhere between High Power LEDs and standard LEDs. In terms of heat production, however, the Mid Power LEDs are in the same class as standard LEDs. This makes it possible to house them in a relatively simple waterproof (IP 67/IP 68) PVC casing, after which they can be attached to the support surface by means of a 3M adhesive strip. The operational temperature is allowed to vary from -20 ºC to 70 ºC!
Samsung started manufacturing LEDs relatively early. The first Samsung LEDs date from 1995. There have been a lot of developments since then. In 2006, Samsung started producing LEDs for LCD televisions. In addition, it supplies LEDs to the automotive sector and develops LEDs for general lighting purposes. Samsung indicates that in the first three years of operation, the decrease in the LEDs’ light output will be no more than 7%.
In the case of repeat orders with the same specifications, these LEDs will emit exactly the same colour. This consistency proves that Samsung maintains effective control of the manufacturing process. When purchasing white LEDs, customers can choose between various intended colour temperatures, but they can also choose red, green or blue. Warm white or amber-coloured LEDs are also available in a number of configurations. Depending on the required light output, GOQ LED has put one or more LEDs in a single casing, which greatly simplifies working with the diodes. Besides the aforementioned LEDs, the GOQ LED basic range also includes RGB LEDs.
